Wind power project Kvällåliden

Environmental permit granted for Kvällåliden
On August, 26th, the administrative board (Länsstyrelsen) in Västerbottens county granted an environmental permit for TCC AB to erect 34 wind power turbines at Kvällåliden. TCC, owned by Telecon, has worked on the project together with Nordex Sverige AB.

The site for which the permit was awarded is included in Åsele municipality’s wind power plan. Wind resource mapping carried out by the university in Uppsala revealed favourable winds in the area, parts of which have been identified by the Energy authorities to be of national interest for wind power.
The site is situated in an area around 8.5 km east of Åsele town. The surrounding communities include Åsele, Älgsjö, Bomsjö, Kvällträsk, Väster-Storsjö and Öster-Storsjö. The shortest distance between turbine and dwelling is approx 1.4 km (Väster-Storsjö). Otherwise the distances exceed 2.7 km. The area has been used for a long period of time for forestry and for the most part is made up of young and cut forest.
The county administrative board (Länsstyrelsen) has granted permission to erect a maximum of 34 wind power turbines in the area. The wind power turbines’ hub height will be max 140 m and have a rotor diameter of max 120 meter. Total height will be max 200 m. The wind power park in Kvällåliden will be able to generate up to 102 MW.
